Erykah Badu's voice is kind of an acquired taste but I love it. It's more naturally suited to conversing than testifying. But make no mistake: she's savvy with her instrument when she gets a track that's a good fit she works it.

Her last album, New Amerykah, Pt. 1 (4th World War), was a funky excursion, her funkiest, as far as I'm concerned--and it was filled with those good fits, and if the mainstream music press wasn't so racist and stupid, there might've been some debate about whether that album belongs in the company of all the classics this video nods at.
