I attended the Web 2.0 Expo last week at the Javits Center in Manhattan. It was an excellent event if you or your company is willing to shell out the excessive fee to attend. In a recession you would think the fees could be cut down a bit. Anyway, what I enjoyed most was Chris Brogan's keynote speech. He did a great job of breaking down some the barriers that have been erected around Social Media topics. I thought his insights on Twitter were were exceptional. I agree with his philosophy in relation, to social media campaigns. He proposed, listening and info sharing are more important than narcissistic tweets about one's self or one's brand. This quote about what some attempt to make of the social web, resonated with me the most: "...what is more sad than creating electric sheep." View the video of his keynote for the specifics, it is defiantly worth the 10 minutes if you are interested in social media or marketing.
