We've been looking forward to a feature film on this long over looked part of American history. Well, after a roller coaster of post production buzz about issues and reshoots, its finally launching Jan 20th... so be sure to support. It's full of state of the art CGI air combat scenes that seem pretty impressive from the film's trailer.

"Red Tails" is the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen who fought with the Allied forces in World War II. The Tuskegee men paved the way for equal treatment of African Americans in the armed forces. The story is punctuated by that fact that segregated African American pilots were were given second-rate planes and missions initially after they were shipped out into combat. But when a dangerous mission arose -- providing safe escort to bombers in broad daylight -- the Tuskegee pilots stepped up to the challenge in order to fight for their country and against the racial discrimination that had been holding them back and proved that they were among the best pilots in the war.

The Red Tails Website is very impressive as well as it gives you a interactive exploration of the base along with a video game like view from the cockpit of the aircraft that they flew, the P-51.

The film is a Lucasfilms project staring Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston, Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, RedMan, Tristan Wilds, Kevin Phillips, Andre Royo and Elijah Kelley.

I'm psyched the film will be released by Black History Month, but it would have been great to get it out by MLK's Birthday...
