The pseudo religious journalist Pat Robertson of the 700 Club has fallen to new racist lows with his comments about the Haitian people being "cursed" for 200 years. This kind of racist commentary in the wake of a natural disaster that has killed hundreds of thousands of people in the poorest country in the Northern Hemisphere should not be tolerated.

My heart goes out to the people of Haiti as I watch footage of their dead children on the streets and Dr. Sanjay Gupta helping people, who can not get help for an infant with head injuries, LIVE on TV. To see this footage and then change channels and hear a "religious leader" make comments like this is a travesty. To quote CNN "there has been no violence and no civil unrest" people are only helping each other and asking for our help. Roberson's blanket comments about a country in distress should not be dismissed like all of his other racist right wing propaganda he has a history of spewing. This statement can cause more people that may have received aid from the "good christians" in his flock, to die because of money held back due to this statement about a Haitian legend.
The only way he will understand that this kind of racist commentary on television will not be tolerated on national TV is to call on people to stop their support of his chief sponsor Humana healthcare insurance and ask for a public apology. Call your local Humana PR Rep here. Or contact their Corp Media Relations Rep directly and let him know you will not support companies that advertise on the 700 Club.

Here is the quote: "And you know Kristi, something happened a long time ago in Haiti and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French, uh you know Napoleon the third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said we will serve you if you'll get us free from the French. True Story. And so the Devil said "OK, it's a deal." And they kicked the French out. You know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other, desperately poor. That island is Hispaniola is one island. It's cut down the middle. On one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican republic. Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etc.. Haiti is in desperate poverty. Same island. Uh, they need to have, and we need to pray for them, a great turning to God and out of this tragedy. I'm optimistic something good may come."
