Very interesting take on how the stars aligned for this one. I agree it's about time the Dems got down to business! It will take a nation of bloggers to remind people about the obstructionists that voted against it in November so keep writing! Big t…

You are right Karriem. One of the key issues is the fact that large news media outlets are dying and because advertising dollars are being shifted to online media. What does this have to do with Tea Party Republicans? Well... it's a story with drama…

Health Care Reform: What Took So Long?

We finally got health care passed and it didn't cost the President one of his, well, you know what I mean. Now comes the easy part, what the White House should have been doing the entire year, which is selling the strong points of his health care bill and get the ridiculously obstructionist GOP off his, well you know what.

Just getting to the point where a vote could be held, and there was really no doubt once the abortion piece was solved, was nothing short of brillian

Neutralize Sen. Lieberman Now...Health Care Reform Must Pass in '09

Can someone please tell me how Sen. Joe Lieberman I-Connecticut) was allowed to live politically after opposing President Obama during the election, and narrowly getting re-elected in 2006? I mean, really, Ned Lamont. How could you, man? And I know for damn sure the American people are not going to allow him to shut down health care reform out of his responsibility to protect the insurance industry, which probably accounts for up to 80% of Connecticut's revenue stream. I don't blame him for doin… Continue

Notes on Detroit from Time Inc. The Detroit Blog

Friends, this is just a little note that I will be responding to on time.com from time to time as well my stuff here on urban::think. I look forward to hearing from you.

At the outset, let me say this is a great idea. Kudos to the editorial leaders at Time for devoting significant resources and energy into covering Detroit with a real emphasis on Detroit. I am going to use this forum to highlight from time to time the real stories of Detroit that will point to our city's coming re… Continue

At What Cost Will Health Care Reform Come?

Health Care Conundrum is Close To End Game

46+ million Americans are currently without health care coverage or insurance of any kind.

Republicans and the far right believe that any effort by the govt to provide a state run health consortium to those uninsured would take away and or slash access to services for those already covered.

As people of color, we should be the biggest group of Americans demanding a 'public option', but curiously enough the White House has not yet engaged it's perhaps… Continue

Wow....A Brand New President: It Is Not a Game

Reporting from Washington it's the K-Nice Report. Actually I am in Washington Heights, but who's really checkin'? My dear friend Dave, has been harassing me about writing, and I promised that I would get something up before my ghetto pass got revoked, so here it is--

WE HAVE A NEW PRESIDENT, AND HE'S A STRAIGHT UP, 100%, BONA FIDE BROTHA...note that I didn't say negro, or black man, or any other descriptive, but brotha. How in the heck did this happen? I mean, don't we still live in the… Continue
